They say: “All good things come to an end.” On the flip side of the coin, they say: “This, too, shall pass.”
I’m finding that both things can be true, at the same time. I’ve finished the rough draft of my novel. It’s here for you to read, if you have a bent for self-torture. I feel like I’ve come to the end of a long, grueling voyage. I’ve been seasick, lost and longing for the sight of land, even faced a storm or two.
I’ve discovered some things, on the journey. Sixty isn’t too old to be a fool for romance. Mark Twain was right about the difference between a word and the right word. Writing really is lonely work. Getting the idea down is the most important thing, at first. Never be too lazy to back up your work, and keep multiple copies… and so much more.
The most revealing thing I’ve learned, is that I’m just big enough a fool to sign aboard another ship. So, I have. If you liked The Business of the Living, keep your eye on this space.
Thanks for your patience, and please leave a little feedback.
